For the first time, the Synod theme was represented creatively through an art competition sponsored by the Lutheran Laypeople’s League.

LYQ Director Darren Pope and Chair Janelle Anderson presented to Synod delegates, declaring an immense joy and privilege to serve with LYQ.

Marilyn Jonas, a former LWQ Bursary recipient, presented on the Lutheran Women of Queensland’s work over the past year. 

Bishop Mark introduced the concept of one church, one purpose, many ministries, and spoke about a District-wide missional theology.

Ministry and Mission Council Chair Carl Eckermann and Director Rev David Schmidt presented the Mission and Ministry Report.

The LCAQD Departments presented written and video reports ahead of the Convention of the Synod, which can be viewed on the website.

The Governance Change Program Committee summarised the work completed since 2022 and delegates adopted a number of recommendations for 2023.

The 2023 LLL Mission Outreach Grant was presented to Emmanuel Lutheran Fellowship Toowoomba, toward their vision of “re-igniting sustainable youth ministry”.

Synod Delegates this Saturday voted in favour of the LCAQD Bishop’s term being increased to four years, in line with other districts.

Bishop Paul Smith offered greetings from the broader LCANZ and presented upon a number of churchwide matters at this year’s LCAQD Synod.
