LCAQD Convention of the Synod

At our annual Convention of the Synod, delegates and visitors gather to celebrate who we are and where we've been in the past year. As the agencies of the Lutheran Church Queensland District, we gather together to discern, through prayer and conversation, where God may be leading us in the years ahead.

So while it's our District’s Annual General Meeting, the opportunity to worship together and to connect over food and conversation is just as important for the health of the LCAQD as the business decisions.

2026 LCAQD Convention of the Synod announced

We’re pleased to share that the District Church Board has confirmed the dates for the 58th LCAQD Convention of the Synod.

The convention will take place from Friday 5 June to Sunday 7 June 2026 at St Andrew’s Lutheran College, Tallebudgera on the beautiful Gold Coast.

Please take note of the timing schedule below:

Friday 5 June: Registrations open 7:30am; Synod business 9:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday 6 June: Registrations open 7:30am; Synod business 8:30am – 5:00pm
Sunday 7 June: Sunday morning worship: 9:00am (no further business after worship). You are invited to join us for morning tea after the service, at St Andrew's Lutheran Church.

Governance Change Program update sessions and Synod sessions for beginners

Ahead of the 2026 Convention of the Synod, the LCAQD Office will be hosting a number of online information sessions to assist delegates in their preparations. These will include two distinct series of sessions which begin on April 15:

  1. The first set of sessions, Governance Change Program Update Sessions, are provided by the District Transformation Committee and will include an update on the Governance Change Program, offering insight into current progress and key developments. Four online sessions are scheduled - each session will provide the same information.
  2. The second set of sessions, Synod Basics for Beginners, will focus on explaining Synod procedures and processes to support delegates in understanding their role.

We encourage delegates to attend the sessions most relevant to their needs as they prepare for the convention. For more information, and the links to join the sessions, click here.

You will need to have this with you each day of convention so that you can log in to vote.

On the Friday and Saturday mornings of the Convention, each registered Synod delegate will receive a text message and an email with a unique voting link for each day. This link will be the avenue to participate in the voting during the sessions.

If any technical voting issues are experienced during the Convention, there will be volunteers in the main auditorium that can assist.

We ask that all Synod delegates bring charging devices to the Convention each day. Charging stations will be available to use in the main auditorium.
