Pastor Expression of Interest
A Pastor to Service the People of the Hopevale, Coen and Wujal Wujal Communities in Far North Queensland.
Since 2011, Pastor David Spanagel has been serving formally in the Lutheran communities of our Aboriginal people in Far North Queensland. In the latter part of this year, David will retire and so the people of the North are seeking a pastor to take up this work. We thank God for the extraordinary service of David and his wife Pam amongst the people of the north.
A call meeting will be conducted in July this year to seek a pastor to continue this work. Pastors are invited to contact Bishop Paul Smith, if they would like to learn more about the process and possibilities for service in the North.
Before he died, Hopevale Christian leader, Pastor George Rosendale, expressed the conviction that any pastor serving in this context had to be strong in his appreciation of cross-cultural engagement. This is certainly a core criterion for service in this unique North Queensland ministry.
Pastors are invited to bring their expressions of interest in this call to Bishop Paul Smith through his Executive Assistant Bronagh Quinn, no later than Friday May 22nd 2020.
