The Paraments of Gin Gin
The Paraments of Gin Gin
It was in early 1952 that my mother (Clara Matilda Zillmann – nee Maroske) decided to crochet an altar cloth for our then Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church at Wallaville.
The altar cloth was crocheted using Mercer crochet cotton, size 20, and it was then attached to a white linen base that precisely fitted the altar. This beautiful cloth was completed in time for our (Edward Leonard Cislowski and Kathleen Alice Zillmann) wedding day on 7 November, 1953.
Later on when the Lutheran Wallaville church was sold, the altar cloth was adjusted to fit the altar at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gin Gin for the opening and dedication service on 25 July, 1965. A Bundaberg curtain shop designed and made the seasonal church paraments to fit under the altar cloth.
It remained the same until the closing of the Redeemer Lutheran church, Gin Gin on 8 December, 2024. This service was officiated by our Pastor Graham Pfeffer and the closing rites were performed by the LCAQD First Assistant Bishop Ben Hentschke.
