Christian Care Sunday

Hello! I am brand new to the QLD District in 2021, and also in a new role for the LCANZ – my name is Anna Kroehn (my husband Lee is Pastor at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Rochedale) and I am the Christian Care Sunday project officer. This project is working to develop, resource and promote opportunities for congregations to celebrate ministries of care by individuals, communities and organisations. The LCANZ developed this position in response to a Synod Proposal in 2018, and I have the job of bringing it to life with congregations, Lutheran Services and Aged Care facilities around Australia and New Zealand.

I will be developing resources to help congregations choose a Sunday to celebrate all kinds of Christian care activities (from phone calls and visiting, to the distribution of food parcels and emergency relief, to people who work in formal care roles like Doctors, nurses, aged care staff, social workers… the list goes on!). We all participate in Christian Care when we make love come to life in our communities with our neighbours – and I am looking forward to celebrating these stories and giving thanks for all these actions in the coming months.
