The LCAQD District Church Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the planned one-day Convention of Synod set for 10 October, at Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale.
The 2020 Convention of Synod had already been postponed from June until October.
In light of the current pandemic circumstances, and in response to advice from the LCAQD Constitutions Committee, the District Church Board resolved to extend the current synodical term (2019-2020) to June 2021 thus cancelling the proposed 10 October convention.
In coming to this decision, many matters were considered, including:
The health and well-being of the people of our Church and the state
The potential for a restriction on the number of delegates who can attend compromising the required quorum
The potential ‘disenfranchising’ of some delegates who are unable to attend on account of pandemic restrictions
Delegates from NSW communities of the LCAQD being required to quarantine
The possibility of a gathering being cancelled with little or no notice should there be a major pandemic outbreak
Major equity issues regarding technology capacity for ALL delegates to participate should the convention be conducted online.
District Church Board will attend to the necessary interim matters required as a result of this decision.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the LCAQD Office in Milton on 07 3511 4000.
2020 reports will be shared on the Synod web page in due course.
