For action: round 2 Child Safety Standards Action Plan

In Queensland, new mandatory Child Safe Standards have recently come into force.

As of 1 April 2026 certain types of organisations, including churches, are required under law to comply with 10 Queensland Child Safe Standards.

Importantly, the Queensland standards align with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and are therefore also harmonious with the LCA Child Safety Standards.

Therefore, if your congregation has a round 2 Child Safety Standards Action Plan in place and is taking continuous steps to implement the plan, you can feel assured that your congregation is at least on the way to fulfilling the Queensland standards.

Conversely though, if you do not yet have a round 2 Child Safety Standards Action Plan (which was due in March 2025), your congregation might be at some risk of breaching the new Queensland standards.
