Service origins and ongoing new life
Our God is a God of surprises – of creativity and innovation, ingenuity and new ideas. Our God is also the God of provision, blessing and restoration. We have a God who does resurrections, starting over and transformation. Not just at Easter, but every day.
Lutheran Services exists because of this God and the faith of people who follow God’s call to meet everyday needs. Salem Rest Home in Toowoomba started in 1935, opened by the local Lutheran congregation, for 12 residents. Previously the cottage had been provided as a home for New Guinea missionaries who were unable to go home to Germany in 1921.
This legacy lives on today.
Last year, our LCAQD members and friends gave over $47,000 to support the ongoing work of Lutheran Services. Others took up the call to volunteer hospital chaplaincy or to pray for our various ministries.
In doing so, each of you is partnering with the team members at Lutheran Services, adding value to the work they do each day.
Together we are keeping our eyes open so that we can continue to share our blessings with our neighbours and communities.
This Lent we celebrate the care ministries inspired by the Holy Spirit and born from the servant heart of Lutheran people, carried out in congregations and Lutheran Services sites right across Queensland.
