Brisbane Walk My Way
Brisbane Walk My Way
There is something powerful about our church stepping out together in faith and love.
On Saturday 8 August, Brisbane Walk My Way will again bring together congregations, schools, care communities, families and friends from across Queensland for what has become the largest annual gathering of our church community in this state.
As we walk, we will be taking practical action to support girls in refugee communities in Kenya and Somalia to stay in school, because education can help protect girls from early marriage and open the way to a safer, stronger future.
This is also a beautiful witness to the wider Brisbane community: demonstrating that our Lutheran church recognises that every child of God is precious, every girl matters, and faith means stepping forward in practical love for our neighbour.
If you have been thinking about joining in, now is the time to register and invite others to come with you. Walk as a congregation. Walk as a school community. Walk as a family. Or simply gather a few friends and be part of the day.
This year, the celebration at the QUT Gardens Point community hub will be especially vibrant, with strong support from local African Diaspora communities helping create a joyful festival atmosphere through live stage performances, African singing and dancing, and delicious food stalls.
You can choose a 3km or 12.5km walk along the Brisbane River, or simply enjoy the hub and cheer others on. Either way, it will be a rich afternoon of fellowship, celebration and purpose for all ages.
Importantly, our actions and our fundraising will protect refugee girls by supporting them to stay in school. When a girl can stay in school, she has more time to grow, learn, and shape her own future. That is something worth walking for.
Please also help spread the word through your congregation and networks. Promotional resources are available here – Brisbane Walk My Way 2026
