A community shaped over time
A community shaped over time
The story of Lutheran Services in Woodridge began with a simple response to a need.
In 1969, Trinder Park Aged Care was established on land donated by local builder Pop Trinder, with local Lutheran congregations working together to create a place of care for older people in their community.
In the years that followed, other services also grew in response to local need. Keystone, for example, was founded through St Luke’s Lutheran Church and local families who saw the importance of creating opportunities and support for young people living with disability.
What has grown over time is more than a collection of services. It is a community.
As we begin gathering stories for the Woodridge Origin Stories project, one thing is already becoming clear – people don’t just pass through this community, they stay connected to it.

Nan & Pop Trinder
We are hearing from people who first became involved through church, volunteering or work, and who have remained part of this community across different stages of life. Some were there in the early years. Others have returned as family members, residents, or through ongoing connection to the services.
As Chaplain and Assistant Director of Chaplaincy and Ministry Development, Joanne Corney reflects, “What has grown here is more than a service – it is a community, shaped by relationships that continue over time.”
The upcoming storytelling day is an opportunity to bring these memories together.
We are especially hoping to hear from story keepers and storytellers connected to Trinder Park, Keystone and the wider Woodridge services – particularly those who were part of the early years, or who have remained connected over time.
There will be a time to share the completed Origin Story more widely. For now, this is a time to listen and gather the stories that will help shape it. You can read the completed stories here.
