Lutheran Services supports aged care and home care journeys
Lutheran Services supports Aged Care and Home Care journeys
In our faith communities, we share life’s many stages and journeys. As we grow older, our needs may change and we may seek extra help — for ourselves or our loved ones.
Navigating Australia’s aged care system can be challenging, and it’s reassuring to have guidance from people who understand and can walk beside us.
The Client and Community Advisor team at Lutheran Services offer free, personalised and compassionate guidance to parishioners, their families and the wider community in the locations they serve—helping people access information and make informed decisions about aged care, retirement living and home care options.
Client and Community Advisors will happily answer your questions and guide you through the process at your pace, step by step. They will help you with paperwork, assist with navigating My Aged Care, support you through assessments and documentation, explain any potential fees or income and assets assessments, be the voice at the end of the phone, and even be the friendly face who welcomes you on Lutheran Services site tours.
Lutheran Services Acting Director of Chaplaincy, Ministry & Development, Joanne Corney, said there were Lutheran Services aged care locations near many South East Queensland congregations.
‘It’s our hope that the practical assistance and clarity offered by our Client and Community Advisors (CCAs) will support those facing what can be a challenging time,’ Joanne said.
‘The CCA’s role is to provide practical support and clear information so people can access the right services at the right time.’
‘This person-centred, values-based approach is underpinned by Lutheran Services’ values of kindness, integrity, innovation, empowerment, and the respect for the dignity of all individuals in our care.’
Christine Hawkins, Home Care Client and Community Advisor for Woodridge, Tallebudgera and Nundah areas, said her priority is to help people feel supported and confident as they make important care decisions.
‘Often, people don’t know where to begin when looking for aged care or home care options, and that’s completely okay. We’re here to make it easier, explain each step clearly, and answer every question.’
‘Whether it’s helping with paperwork, understanding fees and charges or simply providing a listening ear, we offer care you can count on.’
‘The Lutheran Church has a strong sense of community, and that translates into the services we offer and the long-lasting relationships we foster through our work.’
