Being a missional Church
In our work as a Ministry and Mission Department, we work collaboratively with LCAQD Congregations and Agencies to support God’s mission in our District. Here are a few examples of where we are connected:
LCAQD Lutheran Services Lenten Appeal
During the season of Lent we have our eyes fixed on the cross of Jesus. Thinking of his work of love for the world, we commit ourselves to sharing our gifts with those in need.
LCAQD’s Lutheran Services is therefore pleased to announce that the annual Lenten Appeal 2019 will benefit Mary and Martha’s Refuge, or if you prefer, you can support Hospital Chaplaincy. Please note that this appeal replaces the two separate appeals that have been the practice in recent years, ie there will no longer be a Lutheran Services Easter Appeal.
Flood Relief
Thank you to all who have donated to theTownsville Flood Appeal. Please continue to pray for St Paul’s Lutheran Parish and St Paul’s Lutheran Early Learning Centre as they provide vital support and assistance within their community.
Some have asked if our donations can also support those affected west of Townsville. At this point we do not know of a Lutheran community providing a response in this area, however we will do our best to ensure that any specific donation requests received are actioned.
News from Lutheran Education Queensland (LEQ)
In January, David and I participated in and led at some ofLEQ’s Staff Retreats. These are spaces that our school leaders are creating for staff to listen to God, to their hearts and to each other as they begin a new school year. It is a pleasure to support this process, and to learn together. I encourage you to follow the link above to some inspiring stories and a video about some of this year’s retreats.
