Tribute for Lola Paech
“Lola Paech, widow of the late Pastor Robert Paech, died peacefully on the 5th August at the age of 94 years. Her son, Pastor Rob Paech Jnr, and daughters Judy Vitale, Josephine Maher, Heather Leonard and Margaret Hoopmann, deceased, and their families will miss her humble, loving, Christian presence in their lives. She had 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, with two more on the way. Despite some considerable physical disabilities our mother was able to keep her mental faculties and enthusiasm for life. She was always interested in and loved to be with her family and friends. Lola had a strong association with the church in the Queensland district with her husband being a pastor in the Mackay and Nambour parishes before retiring to Buddina Beach on the Sunshine Coast and then spending about ten years in retirement in Adelaide. On returning to Queensland in 2005, Lola has been a resident in St Paul’s Aged Care Village at Caboolture, along with her husband Rob who passed away in 2010. She has always been a regular worshipper in the St Paul’s congregation and a member of the Women’s Fellowship. The family held a small Covid restricted funeral for her at St Paul’s church on the 13th August while family members from other parts of Australia and New Zealand, members of the Village, and other family friends were able to join in via livestream. Lola is buried with husband Robert in the Caboolture and District Cemetery at Deception Bay. She is peacefully at rest with her Lord and Saviour.” – Judy Vitale
“I have no shortage of people to look up to and draw inspiration from; a father and grand-father, a brother-in-law and uncle who were Presidents (Bishops) in the LCA Districts; a great-grandfather who founded Concordia College and Seminary, a pastor uncle who founded Luther College in Victoria. But for me, the person who influenced me and impacted me the most – bar none – was my mum. She never preached a sermon, but her life was her sermon, of humble and joyous and faithful service to others and to her Lord. I am very grateful for the powerful legacy my dad and others gave me, but the core of my character and my heart and my faith is due to the one who was always there for me. Thanks mum, for showing me Jesus!” – Rob Paech
