ALC’s Festival of Learning will be held online from Wednesday, 16 February to Saturday, 19 February and provides an opportunity for people to come together in a celebration of education, faith, church-work and theology. The festival will be an ecumenical celebration that includes introductory sessions to the biblical languages, theology, practical and applied theology, Lutheran doctrine and thought and dialogues with the wider church. As you are aware the LCAQD is continuing its work on the governance change project with a focus on further enhancing the governance model across the district. The Governance Advisory Committee (GAC) is due to report back on the production of a detailed and pragmatic Governance and supportive assurance model recommendation. The installation service for Pastor Paul Smith as Churchwide Bishop will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Flinder Street, Adelaide SA) on the 20th of February 2022 commencing at 3pm. Queensland Churches Together will be presenting two courses in March and April: ONLINE: Domestic Family violence Awareness workshops (link to the first flyer) Wednesday evenings in March: 2nd, 9th & 16th March at 7pm. On Saturday 15 January, an underwater volcano eruption and tsunami in Tonga caused severe damage. The tsunami is estimated to have impacted around 1800+ households’ food supply across Tonga (around 5000 people). An undersea cable was damaged, cutting communications. Even satellite phones were dropping out after three or four minutes. The good news is ALWS can take your love and care to Tonga through our membership of the Church Agencies Network* here in Australia.
