The LCA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been officially endorsed by General Church Board and Reconciliation Australia (read the story). RAP documents and posters were posted last week. Keep a lookout for them at your congregation or ministry space. You can read the document on the RAP website.

The August issue of the Lutheran Theological Journal (LTJ*) is now available. This is a special themed issue containing contributions submitted by workers across the LCA/NZ with their reflections on the question: what will the church look like in a post-COVID-19 world? Ordinarily, LTJ is only available to those who subscribe, however given this issue is of relevance to the whole church, the LTJ editorial committee has decided to make the contents available to everyone who is interested. COVID-19 infection risks, health guidelines, border restrictions and ongoing uncertainty have forced the cancellation of ALWS’s plans for public events to give thanks for 70 years of service. ALWS instead is planning new ways to give thanks for how God has enabled the Australian and New Zealand Lutheran family to bring love to life through ALWS.

St Johns Year 9 student Charlotte Landherr wins a national prize and will have her english work published in a new teaching resource used by Australian secondary students. Congratulations Charlotte! Read full story here.

On Saturday 22 August, Our Saviour and Hosts co-hosted an online trivia night to raise funds up to $5821 for ALWS that would go towards building a greenhouse to support the host community of Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. With around 100 people in 20 homes and 35 Zoom windows going, they raised over $6,000! Congratulations on such a fantastic effort!

Well done to all who have raised funds for ALWS’s Walk My Way fundraiser. Mark’s goal was to raise raise enough funds to send 35 refugee children to school in East Africa. Through generous donations, 36 children are able to go to school! Donations are still welcome on their website.

The LCAQD District Church Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the planned one-day Convention of Synod set for 10 October, at Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale.
