The LCAQD District Church Board announces that the 2023 LCAQD Convention of Synod will be held at:
Brisbane Technology Park (Map Location), 1 Clunies Ross Court, Eight Mile Plains QLD 4113
On: 5pm Friday evening 2nd June – 3pm Sunday 4th June 2023.

This year we gather under the theme of “Called according to God’s purpose”, based on Romans 8:28: ‘We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose’.
Here is a basic agenda for Synod 2023, to allow delegates and visitors to plan for their attendance. A more detailed agenda has been published in the Book of Reports, but please note that it is subject to change, both in the lead up to Synod and during the Convention itself.
On Saturday June 3, delegates resolved that the 2023 Convention of Synod Offering be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hope Vale for Mission and Ministry in Far North Queensland.

Our speaker for the Synod dinner on Saturday evening is Michael Stolz. Michael has had an interesting life, as his bio attests. Now called according to God’s purpose to serve as Executive Director of Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS), Michael’s talk will focus on the significant work of ALWS.
Also at the Saturday night dinner: Synod Art Competition winners will be announced and presented with their prizes.

You cannot register and pay on the day: It is very important that all delegates and visitors are registered no later than 8am on Monday May 22. After this, registrations will close and there is no capacity to make any exception to this, sorry. (This hard deadline is due to requirements imposed on us by the catering company.)

Nominations for Boards, Councils and Committees
Members of LCAQD governing bodies are elected by the LCAQD Synod. Between Synod assemblies, casual vacancies are filled by the LCAQD District Church Board.

This year LCAQD Synod will be using Vero Voting.
On the Saturday and Sunday mornings of Convention, each registered Synod delegate will receive a text message and an email with a unique voting link for each day. This link will be the avenue to participate in the voting during the sessions.
If any technical voting issues are experienced during the Convention, there will be volunteers in the main auditorium that can assist.
We ask that all Synod delegates bring charging devices to Convention each day. Charging stations will be available to use in the main auditorium.

Governance Change Program Continues
Following the resolutions from Synod 2022, DCB have approved the creation of the Governance Transformation Committee who are continuing the work of governance change.

We need people for the following roles at the convention:
- Carpark attendants
- Door greeters
- Registration assistants
- Ushers and auditorium greeters
- Vero Voting assistants (these people must be tech-savvy)

Calling all artists and aspiring artists!
The Lutheran Lay People’s League in conjunction with the Lutheran Church of Australia Qld District will be hosting an art competition at this year’s 2023 Convention of Synod. The Lutheran Lay People’s League will be sponsoring the LCAQD Synod Art Competition with the aim to inspire and celebrate creativity in the Queensland District.
Entrants must consider the Synod theme ‘Called according to His purpose’ (Romans 8:28) as part of their submission. There is a selection of age group categories for entrants, so that a diverse range of category winning artworks can be displayed during the 2023 Convention of Synod.
