COVID-19 infection risks, health guidelines, border restrictions and ongoing uncertainty have forced the cancellation of ALWS’s plans for public events to give thanks for 70 years of service. ALWS instead is planning new ways to give thanks for how God has enabled the Australian and New Zealand Lutheran family to bring love to life through ALWS.

Read MoreOur Saviour Online Trivia Night Raised over $6,000!
On Saturday 22 August, Our Saviour and Hosts co-hosted an online trivia night to raise funds up to $5821 for ALWS that would go towards building a greenhouse to support the host community of Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. With around 100 people in 20 homes and 35 Zoom windows going, they raised over $6,000! Congratulations on such a fantastic effort!

Well done to all who have raised funds for ALWS’s Walk My Way fundraiser. Mark’s goal was to raise raise enough funds to send 35 refugee children to school in East Africa. Through generous donations, 36 children are able to go to school! Donations are still welcome on their website.

The LLL has announced the appointment of Ross Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ross will take over from Allen Kupke when he retires later this year. It is expected Ross will commence his role as CEO in October 2020. Ross is currently CEO of the Anglican Schools Corporation in NSW, which oversees 14,500 students. He is also Chair of the Glebe Administration Board, which oversees a $220 million investment fund. LLL Board Chair Graeme Huf welcomed the appointment and said Ross would bring new insights to LLL.
