Faith and fear…leading in a conflict zone
Faith and fear…leading in a conflict zone
Come and be inspired by Sophie Gebreyes, who leads your ALWS ministry in Ethiopia (home to 10 million Lutherans!) Poverty, war, drought and the influx of refugees from Sudan and South Sudan, means kindness and compassion are critical in saving lives.
Hear Sophie share what motivates her in her leadership role – how she works in volatile situations, and sees hope and love come to life in the lives of refugees and the many vulnerable and forgotten in her communities.
Hear from someone working on the front line.
Hear how you can be a part of making a difference.
Sophie works for LWF (Lutheran World Federation) and is visiting Australia for a brief time. You will have the opportunity to hear her journey, her stories, and chat with her afterwards.
There are two opportunities to hear from Sophie:
At an evening of connecting, learning and networking for women, on Friday 16th August from 6pm – 8pm, at ‘Never Been’ 2908 Logan Rd, Underwood. Tickets are $40 (including food and a donation to ALWS work in Ethiopia)
RSVP: 9th August to Jodie Hoff, principal@lords.qld.edu.au
or at an ALWS Asante presentation on Saturday 17th August from 9:00am, followed by a simple early lunch at 11:15am, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers Parade West, Everton Park.
RSVP: 9th August – 1300 763 407 or alws@alws.org.au.
