New Cooktown Church Consecrated
New Cooktown Church Consecrated
It was a pleasure to participate with a number of Anglican Clergy and Brothers by processing with them in robes and the colour white for the Anglican Church of Australia Diocese of North Queensland’s consecration of the new Christ Church of Cooktown.
The Archdeacon Christopher Wright and Churchwarden Mrs Christa Palmer invited various denominational church leaders to join them on Saturday 4th November 2023 to be part of the consecration by the Right Reverend Dr Keith Joseph.
There were representatives from all the churches of Cooktown; Roman Catholic, Community Church, and Baptist. All were welcomed and willingly partook of the celebration to encourage the Anglican Community of Cooktown in their faithful Christian service to the community.
Since we have a number of members that live permanently in Cooktown and cannot make it to regular worship at Hopevale, a number of them regularly worship with the Anglicans.
The various Christian churches of Cooktown aim to demonstrate their joint fellowship within the family of God, by regularly holding joint events within the local areas.
While we join together for various combined celebratory events, at Christmas and during the Endeavor Festival, Hopevale holds a regular Muni Day celebration which many of the Cooktown Christians regularly attend.
In a more isolated regional area, it is encouraging to see how children of the family of God are always willing to join together to share our hope in the only true way to the Father.
As we spend time together we tend to see that we have more in common than we have that separates us.
