2023 LLL Mission Outreach Grant Presented at Synod
Ross Smith, CEO Lutheran Laypeople’s League (LLL), and Deepa Justus, LLL Board member, delivered a presentation that affirmed LLL’s missional purpose, reflected on recent activities and projects and emphasised LCAQD’s importance in enabling that missional purpose.
Ross then presented the 2023 Mission Outreach Grant to Emmanuel Lutheran Fellowship (ELF) Toowoomba, toward their vision of “re-igniting sustainable youth ministry”.
The grant will enable ELF to begin to employ a Youth Ministry Coordinator two days per week to support the Lutheran Church in Toowoomba in its purpose to:
- Share God’s love with young people already connected with church as well as those who aren’t yet
- Create connection with and between young people, generations, and Lutheran congregations, as well as the College
- Introduce Christ to young people who don’t know Jesus yet and through service within the wider community
- Grow together deeper in faith, encouraging young people to share their giftedness and take a lead, as well as intergenerationally – using the “Growing Young” process.
The grant was received with appreciation by Pastor Nathan Glover, and Rebekah Haak, of Emmanuel Lutheran Fellowship. Ross then prayed for ELF and their ministry endeavours.
Commenting afterwards, Pastor Nathan shared his hope that this investment in youth ministry and inter-generational relationships will help build up the Lutheran church as a whole in Toowoomba and surrounding areas.
