What makes Rick tick?
Late in 2019, we welcomed Rick Davenport as LCAQD District Administrator. Rick’s expertise, gifts and passions have encouraged us at District Office, and I thought it was about time we share some of Rick’s story for those who haven’t gotten to know Rick yet.
Rick was born in South Africa and lived in Namibia for several years before he and his wife Drika arrived in Australia, in 2001. As an international auditor with Price Waterhouse Coopers, Rick worked within the banking, airline, oil and gas, mining and energy sectors.
After Rick stepped away from what was a hectic lifestyle, he was led to apply for the LCAQD District Administrator position. Rick brings to this role a heart for mission and a wealth of experience in business systems, especially with respect to risk management. Rick wishes to use his experience and gifts to enable the LCAQD to be as effective as possible in sharing the gospel in a world that so badly needs to know it.
In a year that has included managing emerging COVID-19 requirements such as JobKeeper alongside normal business activities, one of Rick’s highlights has been the opportunities it brought to connect with Chairs and Treasurers, e.g. via Zoom chats, and to better understand the realities of ‘congregation-land.’
Rick’s other big motivator in travelling less was to indulge his love of learning more about homesteading, economic cycles and how we all can thrive from the opportunities that surround us. His pursuit for challenging what we currently do and seeking new ways that make our lives a little easier never ceases. God bless you in all your ways, Rick!
