LYQs Leadership Year
Every couple of weeks I get the opportunity to write an article for eNews and hear about the wonderful ministry happening in our district. This week, I get to share something that I am involved in with Lutheran Youth of Queensland – our brand new young adult leadership program.
LYQ’s Leadership Year program has a vision to grow courageous leaders who serve their communities and influence the world. We have three young adults – Bec, Zara and Sam – who we are journeying alongside us this year as they grow in their faith and potential.
Our key focus for term 1 is living out of our identity in Christ. We believe that as Christian leaders, our foundation comes from Christ and our identity is in Him, and when we can know how loved by Him we are, we’re able to lead more boldly and serve more lovingly. We haven’t spent a single day focusing on leadership or ministry skills as of yet, but simply spending time going deeper in our relationship with God.
Beyond this term we will begin to be equip the participants in knowledge and skills in how to lead and be a part of effective ministry in all areas of church and community life, through content sessions with guest speakers, and also ministry service experiences, as a way to put our learning into practice.
At LYQ, we are seeking to support the present and future of local churches through this program, as we believe that young people who are empowered and equipped to take on meaningful leadership roles will help the church thrive. We would love your prayers to support this ministry, and if you have a ministry project we could assist with, we would love to hear from you. We are very excited for this new venture and the growth of Bec, Zara and Sam!
