How LEQ Is Supporting Local Congregations
There are many different branches of our church that can often feel separate from one another, but here is an example of how these different sections of our church are helping each other out and making an impact, written by Paul Pantelimon, ICT Support Officer for Lutheran Education Queensland.
Lutheran Education Queensland (LEQ) together with its schools has always endeavored to provide collegial assistance to other arms of the Church. LEQ recognises its potential to provide assistance and support resources in the area of Information and Communications Technologies. Relevant personnel in each congregation were recently surveyed to build a picture of the level of ICT equipment, current support and need.
Over the last few months LEQ personnel have met, conversed, supported or liaised with some congregations to provide support, advice or broker equipment.
One such example was Grace Lutheran Church, Childers. After Ros and Neil from the parish council met with LEQ ICT support in Brisbane to further discuss their congregation’s needs, they were able to form a small project to solve an immediate problem.
Grace Lutheran Church wished to transform the audio visual capability of their church building by acquiring a data projector, screen, laptop, and appropriate software so that they were able to leverage PowerPoint and other software to support the weekend services.
Being connected to schools, LEQ was able to source and utilise some legacy school equipment to give to their congregation which completed the project. The team set up a convenient date to assist in setting up the equipment and provide some basic training. After this, Ros and Neil liaised with Paul from LEQ Milton to iron out any bugs or receive additional training.
Ros reports that the Sunday worship services have been great, with the addition of the projector and computer allowing members to join in with the liturgy. They are now obtaining a lockable trolley to make it more mobile throughout the Church.
We love hearing stories of people in the church helping each other to continue growing the kingdom of God, so if you have one that you would like to share please contact ashlee.schultz@lyq.org.au.
